The Film
An eighteen-year-old law student from the outskirts of Recife, the first in her family to attend university, sees her future thrown into uncertainty when she discovers she is pregnant. Within a society marked by social inequality, gendered expectations, and limited reproductive rights, she is forced to make decisions that challenge both her personal identity and her position within the social order.
The Conversation
After this beautiful Brazilian film, we invite you to join our panel discussion exploring the intergenerational women experience, with a particular focus on women of color. The conversation will center on reproductive rights and the lived realities of studying and existing as a woman today: who is allowed to dream, to make mistakes, to decide over their own body? What does success mean when access and choice are unequally distributed? And what kinds of support systems are truly needed for women across generations to thrive.
